Nederland, Texas – The City of Nederland has just implemented updates to its food truck regulations. Effective March 1st, the City of Nederland has enacted revised regulations governing the operation of food trucks within city limits. These regulations establish two permit categories: Special Events Permits and Annual Permits.
- Special Events Permits:
- Limit: One permit per month (valid for one day only), with a maximum of twelve permits issued per year.
- Requirement: Co-participation with a local business’s special event is mandatory.
- Fee: $50 per permitted event.
- Annual Food Truck Permits:
- Limit: A total of eight permits will be available.
- Eligibility: Food truck operators who own a brick-and-mortar establishment within the city limits or possess a residence with homestead exemption are eligible to apply.
- Fee: $500
Historically, Nederland only has a small food truck presence with the likes of Dyrla Taquería Food Truck, Taco Rey Mexican Food Restaurant, Delicias Mexicanas Food Truck, Taqueria Gonzalez, and Sneaky Pete’s being the main ones. Nonetheless, for better or worse it looks as though these new regulations may shape Nerderland’s food truck community for the foreseeable future.
On a similar note, it is not known why these rules have been implemented as it looks as though the city’s food truck regulations were fair to begin with.
