Astoria, New York – This week, it was announced that Secret Thai Street Food restaurant would be closing. Located in the H Lopez Market Place at 30-72 Steinway in Astoria, Queens, the Thai eatery had gained a stellar reputation in the few years that it was open.
Over the years, Secret Thai Street Food quickly became the place to go for Thai food in Astoria. On Google, it enjoyed a 4.9/5 rating on Google over 224 reviews which shows how popular it was.
Some of its most popular dishes include Pad Thai, a stir-fried noodle dish made with tamarind, fish sauce, and a variety of proteins and vegetables; Tom Yum Soup, a spicy and sour soup typically made with shrimp and mushrooms; and Green Curry, a spicy and creamy curry dish made with green curry paste, coconut milk, and a variety of meats or vegetables.
However, it is now set to close. Recently, a Reddit thread showed a photo of a sign on the front counter of the venue. Here, it read: ‘Our last day here is Sunday, February 25th. We’re relocating to Freeport, Long Island. Thank you for supporting our business and being part of our journey. Your support means the world, and we’re gonna miss this awesome community!’
Unsurprisingly, this new was met with sadness by Astoria residents, with many of them praising the eatery for its fresh, Thai food.
